In 'The Paddocks' by the river
What an excellent day that turned out to be. There was a bit of activity behind the scenes as you can imagine, getting the field ready, erecting the marquee, the stalls, the stage and the bunting. On the day the weather was warm and sunny - rare this year - and most of the village turned out to try their luck or spend their money on the barbecue, plants, teas, swing boats, bouncy castle, white elephant, tombola, hoopla and treasure island. In the show ring adults and children ran, dressed up, threw and caught eggs - but not all at once - while the less adventurous ones looked on. The competition winners - the cake, single rose, ploughman's lunch together with the children's poster, veggie creature and decorated egg were on display. It was a great day, and there was more ...
